HSE Master’s Student Measured the Level of Happiness Using Instagram

Mark Evlampiev, student of the Master’s programme 'Project Management: Project Analysis, Investments, and Implementation Technologies', measured the level of happiness in the urban environment using data from the social network Instagram in the city of Perm.

At the ordinary seminar of the GAMES research group Alina Buzanakova, the research assistant, participant of Research Training Group “Empirical demand estimator”, presented her paper. She revealed the results of a study, focused on estimation of demand function for the performing art through the example of Perm opera and ballet theatre.

“I have a wish to prepare academic researchers in economics in Perm branch of HSE”

Evgeniy Ozhegov, Senior Lecturer of department of Economics and Finance, junior research fellow of the Group for Applied Markets and Enterprises Studies (GAMES), NRU HSE-Perm, is one of those pushing the science forward. Evgeniy is included in candidate pool of NRU HSE, recently he defended candidate thesis in economics. He teaches courses on econometrics and microeconometrics, game theory, consumers’ behavior theory for the students of Perm campus of NRU HSE, teaches to write graduation thesis. Besides, Evgeniy runs the students’ econometrics club, organizes the work of GAMES seminars and takes part in development of many scientific and applied studies.

How is teaching combined with research activities? Should studies be applied? And what does inspire a scientist? Evgeniy told about this and about many other things in his interview to HSE-Perm site.

The event is organized in cooperation with Essex Business School, HSE Perm academic partner. The event will be held on September 26-27.

Economics of Sport Discussed at HSE April Academic Conference

Economics of sports was one of the topics featured at the recent April Academic Conference. A section led by HSE Deputy Vice Rector Dmitry Dagaev included sessions dedicated to financial and organizational regulation, competitive balance, and determinants of success in sport. Two of the sessions were moderated by international scholars, Prof. Dennis Coates and Dr. Tim Pawlowski, who have talked to HSE News about their research interests and the importance of sports in modern global economy.

At the XVII international scientific April conference at NRU HSE (Moscow) the delegation of Perm campus spoke at 14 sessions. Speakers from the school of management, school of economics and finance, the group for state-private interaction studies, International laboratory of intangible-driven economy and Group for applied markets and enterprises studies took part in the conference.

Results of Latest Collaborative Research Presented at HSE's April Conference

Members of the Sector of Public-Private Partership Research presented preliminary results of their latest collaborative research as part of HSE's April Conference.  On 20.04.16, Sarah Busse Spencer gave the presentation on "Conditions for local territorial self-governance (TOS) in Russian Regions".  Coauthors of the presentation are Olga Mayorova, Svetlana Suslova, Anastasia Bozhya-Volya and Ekaterina Schwartzaid.  The presentation was given in the first panel of the three-day session entitled "Local Self-Governance and Civil Self-Organization", under the direction of Irina Mersianova.
