On the Verge of a Recession: HSE Experts Begin Measuring Stress Levels in the Russian Economy
The HSE Centre of Development Institute has begun publishing the Daily Economic Stress Index (DESI), which tracks economic activity in the financial markets and in the real sector. Current stress index indicators do not paint an optimistic picture – they significantly exceed the background retrospective values since 1997, indicating a high probability of a recession.
HSE Remains Leader in Russia by Number of Economics Research Papers
At the close of 2019, HSE University once again ranked first among Russian organizations in the RePEc/IDEAS (Research Papers in Economics) world ranking and advanced to a record-breaking 129th place. The ranking evaluates economic, academic, and research institutions based on their publication activity in economics.

HSE-Perm’s research group consisting of Tatyana Permyakova, Full Professor of the School of Foreign Languages, and Marina Sheveleva, Associate Professor of the School of Foreign Languages, together with American researcher Dr. Kenneth Wang, has been investigating the dangers of ‘imposter syndrome’ for university students. iCare 2019: Summary
From September 23 to 25, 2019, the International Conference on Applied Research in Economics (iCare) was held at HSE University-Perm. It brought together more than 50 researchers from around the world. Seminar On Cyber-Physical Systems by Stefan Vöth at HSE University-Perm
The HSE University-Perm held a seminar titled ‘Object-Oriented Modeling in OpenModelica for Cyber-Physical System Applications’. Professor Stefan Vöth, Dr.-Ing., from Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola (Bochum, Germany) spoke at the III Perm Digital Forum and also delivered lectures and workshops on methods of creating digital models for different technical systems.

HSE’s annual student research paper competition has begun accepting applications for the 2019 cycle. The competition is open not only to students of HSE University but to students of any university, both in Russia and abroad. You can submit research papers in Russian or in English. The application deadline is October 15.
