Faculty and students of the Business Informatics Department took part in the IV International Scientific and Technical Conference "Open Semantic Technology for Intelligent Systems” (OSTIS-2014).

On December 20, 2013, Yaroslav Kuzminov, HSE Rector and Head of the Russian Federation Public Chamber Commission on Education Development, participated in the discussion surrounding the draft annual report on the state of civil society in Russia. He spoke about some current problems of education.

The 9^th interdisciplinary workshop on intangibles, intellectual capital and extra-financial information was held at the Copenhagen Business School at the end of September. It was organized by EIASM (the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management). Mariya Molodchik, Associate Professor of the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Empirical Studies HSE Perm told about the event.

The Perm campus of the Higher School of Economics has held a successful International Conference for Research in Economics “iCare”.

In early July 2013, a joint academic conference of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), The University of Oxford, and the British Open University, took place in France. The conference was dedicated to the problems of welfare economics and was held in the OECD headquarters in Paris. Several HSE experts took part in the event.

Last year the HSE-Perm established a new Scientific Research Laboratory for Industrial Organization Empirical Analysis. Grigory Kosenok, Full Professor of the New Economic School and Research Manager of the Laboratory, talks about the laboratory and the International Conference on Applied Economics which will be held in Perm HSE on September 18-20, 2013 where international specialists to be keynote speakers at the Conference have been invited.

On February 1, 2013, the HSE-Perm and the retail food chain “SemYa” executed a cooperation agreement. The agreement provides for joint research in demand estimation.

As part of the Netherlands-Russia year, a year in which the Netherlands and Russia emphasize their long bilateral relations, the Inholland University of Applied Sciences (IUAS, the Netherlands) hosted a visit by Ms. Agatha Poroshina, a faculty member of the HSE-Perm Applied Mathematics Social Systems Modeling Department and Alexandra Ryakhovskaya, a 3^rd year student of the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) .
