Alexey Chmykhov graduated from HSE Perm in Economics in 2015. He is now studying for an MA in Finance while working as a research assistant at the HSE International Laboratory of the Intangible-driven Economy in Perm. Alexey has spoken at Russian and international conferences, taken part in international research competitions, and graduated with honours. Here he shares his impressions about his work and studies at HSE with us.
Wall Painting as Means of Expressing Ethnic Identity
Svetlana Strinyuk, Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Languages at HSE Perm, presented a report ‘Identity through Violence Aestheticization: murals in Derry and Belfast’ at the 5th international conference CONTEMPART 2016. The conference was dedicated to issues of urban identity, urban space and contemporary art and took place in Istanbul.
HSE Master’s Student Measured the Level of Happiness Using Instagram
Mark Evlampiev, student of the Master’s programme 'Project Management: Project Analysis, Investments, and Implementation Technologies', measured the level of happiness in the urban environment using data from the social network Instagram in the city of Perm.

Evgeniy Ozhegov, Senior Lecturer of department of Economics and Finance, junior research fellow of the Group for Applied Markets and Enterprises Studies (GAMES), NRU HSE-Perm, told us what inspires him for new research, about the trends in econometrics and also shared his opinion, should scientific projects be applied or not. What influences the price of theatre tickets?
At the ordinary seminar of the GAMES research group Alina Buzanakova, the research assistant, participant of Research Training Group “Empirical demand estimator”, presented her paper. She revealed the results of a study, focused on estimation of demand function for the performing art through the example of Perm opera and ballet theatre.
Perm campus at the April conference
At the XVII international scientific April conference at NRU HSE (Moscow) the delegation of Perm campus spoke at 14 sessions. Speakers from the school of management, school of economics and finance, the group for state-private interaction studies, International laboratory of intangible-driven economy and Group for applied markets and enterprises studies took part in the conference.
Results of Latest Collaborative Research Presented at HSE's April Conference
Members of the Sector of Public-Private Partership Research presented preliminary results of their latest collaborative research as part of HSE's April Conference. On 20.04.16, Sarah Busse Spencer gave the presentation on "Conditions for local territorial self-governance (TOS) in Russian Regions". Coauthors of the presentation are Olga Mayorova, Svetlana Suslova, Anastasia Bozhya-Volya and Ekaterina Schwartzaid. The presentation was given in the first panel of the three-day session entitled "Local Self-Governance and Civil Self-Organization", under the direction of Irina Mersianova.

PhD Sofya Kulikova, senior research fellow of Scientific training laboratory for interdisciplinary empirical studies of NRU HSE-Perm, told in her interview to Properm.ru how our brain works, why hormone oxytocin makes us more trustful and that we like to drink expensive wine more even if it does not differ from cheap wine. Neuroeconomics studies all that.
