On August 22, the deputies of the Perm City Duma elected the new head of the city: Eduard Sosnin, HSE graduate and Minister for Economic Development and Investment of the Perm Region.

Mr Sosnin’s candidacy was supported by 24 out of the 30 deputies. Five deputies abstained and one voted against. He will be sworn in on August 28 at 2 pm at the Perm Youth Palace.

Eduard is a graduate of the Faculty of Management (now the International Bachelor's in Business and Economics) of HSE University in Perm. He is also a graduate of the Master’s in General and Strategic Management of the Faculty of Management (now the Graduate School of Business) at HSE University-Moscow.

In 2018, Eduard Sosnin was one of the winners of the Leaders of Russia open management competition and studied at the Stockholm School of Economics. His mentor was Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District. Since 2020, he has served as Minister for Economic Development and Investment of the Perm Region.

Eduard Sosnin has previously commented on the study skills he acquired at HSE University-Perm:

'It is HSE that taught me to learn—from teachers, from online material, from real examples—and to never rest on my laurels. Higher education is an opportunity to become flexible, adaptive, and motivated.'

Congratulations to Eduard on his new role as mayor of Perm!
