At a working meeting of Western-Urals bank of Sberbank Russia, and HSE-Perm, Sberbank Chairman Kirill Brel and the Director of HSE-Perm’s campus, Galina Volodina launched a new Sberbank Russia department at HSE-Perm to train new staff reserves for mass and non-mass jobs required by the bank.

At a working meeting of Western-Urals bank of Sberbank Russia, and HSE Perm, Sberbank chairman Kirill Brel and the Director of HSE Perm’s campus, Galina Volodina launched a new Sberbank Russia department at HSE-Perm to train new staff reserves for mass and non-mass jobs required by the bank. Besides being a source of new workers, the department intends to attract graduates with the right qualifications from HSE to work in Sberbank.

HSE Perm and the Western Urals bank of Sberbank Russia signed an agreement at the end of 2012 to create the department. Since then, with the approval of the HSE Academic Council, work has been underway to design the concept and curriculum. At the beginning of this semester, 14 fourth year economics students studying banking business started classes at the Sberbank department. The course is intended to be practical and before the end of their degree courses, students can take the plunge and start work at Sberbank where they’ll be able to try out the latest technology and test their skills.

Students will also be required to produce coursework of a practical nature to qualify for their degrees.  They will be on the bank’s external staff reserve and can join the ranks of specialists in the future, and not long after, if they prove themselves, they can become part of the bank’s junior and middle management.

At the launch, HSE Perm and Sberbank discussed possibilities for training courses in other areas provided by the university, and for working together more on Master’s programmes at HSE in the future.
