The Second International Conference on Experience Economy: Key Speakers and Sessions

The 2nd International Conference on Experience Economy: Museum, Event, and Tourism Management will be held at HSE University in Perm from October 20–22. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Perm Region will be the general partner of the conference. The HSE News Service highlights some of the key speakers and sessions of the event.

Other partners of the conference include the Perm region’s Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Tourism and Youth Policy, the Perm State Art Gallery, the Perm Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Perm Museum of Modern Art, and the Perm Museum of Local Lore. Key conference speakers include Dr. Guillaume Tiberghien of the University of Glasgow and Professor Andrea Rurale, Director of the Master’s in Arts Management and Administration at Bocconi University.

Guillaume Tiberghien,
Professor, University of Glasgow

Dr. Guillaume Tiberghien has over 15 years’ research and teaching experience in the field of tourism, particularly in memorial spaces, tourism marketing, and cultural heritage. He is the programme leader of the Master’s Degree in Management and Sustainable Tourism at the Adam Smith Business School, and served as associate programme leader of the Undergraduate Programme in Tourism and Hospitality at KIMEP University in Kazakhstan from 2008 to 2012.

He has also participated in several consulting projects in marketing and tourism management in Central Asia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has written numerous articles for international journals, serves on the editorial board of the Europe-Asia Studies journal, and is a member of the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute.

The topic of Dr. Tiberghien’s conference presentation is ‘Understanding the role of authenticity in the experience of place at rural and heritage tourism sites: A multiple case study analysis.’

Andrea Rurale,
Professor, Director of the Master’s in Arts Management and Administration at Bocconi University (Italy)

Andrea Rurale is the director of the Master’s in Arts Management and Administration at the Bocconi University School of Management. He has conducted research and educational projects with major companies, and serves as the regional president of FAI Lombardia (the Italian Environmental Fund) and the president of the Conservatory of Music of Cremona.

His research activities focus on cultural marketing, consumer behaviour, experiential marketing, customer relationship management and marketing communications. His work has been published in the journal Psychology and Marketing and he has written several books. He has been a visiting professor at numerous international universities, such as Simon Fraser University (Canada), Tsinghua University (China), Southern Methodist University (USA), the University of Technology Sydney (Australia), and the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes (Mexico).

The topic of Professor Rurale’s conference presentation is ‘A call to revise a cultural business management.’

Sessions will be held on October 20 and 21 on the topics of tourism, museums, the sociology and marketing of territories, innovative technologies, experience economy marketing, digital projects for cultural institutions, and more. There will also be roundtables on ‘Personnel Training in the Experience Economy and Tourism,’ ‘The Development of Eco-tourism in Conservation Areas: Characteristics and Prospects During the Pandemic,’ and ‘Participation Space: The Participation Practices of Cultural and Educational Institutions,’ as well as a presentation by the Perfume of City C. project.

On October 22, participants of the conference will learn more about the Perm region’s museums and excursion programmes.
