'HSE - Perm Makes Me Feel at Home, Because the Teachers and Coordinators Here Really Care About Every Student'
HSE - Perm's preparatory programme in Russian as a Foreign Language has admitted a new cohort of students. The supplemental programme helps foreign students who intend to apply to Russian universities gain proficiency in Russian. Students study grammar, phonetics, reading, speaking, and writing over the course of their studies. The new cohort is the fourth group of students to join the programme in what is now the programme's third admissions season.
Organizational support is provided by the International Office. Foreign citizens from Turkey, Sudan, China, Iran, and Japan were selected for the new group. Students will take intensive Russian language course until the end of July 2021.
Course Coordinator
We are thrilled to be able to welcome a new cohort of students. Like the degree programmes of HSE, we have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and encountered difficulties in attracting candidates. The new students we have accepted to the programme are united by a desire to learn Russian, although the motives may be different: some want to enter a Russian university, some want to live in Russia, while others are just interested in Russian culture. 8 courageous and hardworking people have bravely decided to start out programme remotely. We believe that the situation with the pandemic will begin to improve and we will be able to share our city with the students and to acquaint them with the University and their instructor, Professor Alexander Narseev, personally. In the future, we hope that the students will apply to degree programmes at HSE - Perm.

I have already studied Russian before, so I am glad that Alexander gives me additional tasks that are more difficult. I already have a Bachelor's degree from a Japanese university. I have chosen the Russian language course because I want to get a better handle on the grammar and pass the entrance exams next year. At the Higher School of Economics I am interested in the Bachelor's programmes in History, Design, and Foreign Languages.

I really enjoy the feeling of learning a new language, it’s like you are reborn into this world again: you learn its alphabet, you learn the words for 'mama' and 'papa', and from there you go onto form sentences and express yourself with proper grammar. Learning Russian at HSE - Perm is exciting: every day there are new words, new topics, and a lot of interactions with my teacher and classmates. I strive to memorize as much as I can to get to know this language and its culture more and more. True, it is difficult to learn a language — there are times when you don’t understand or make mistakes, but our teacher never loses his patience. HSE - Perm makes me feel at home because the teachers and coordinators here really care about every student. With such high-level teachers and warm directors, I just can’t wait to speak Russian fluently and travel to different Russian cities and explore different cultures in this abundant and beautiful land of paradise - Russia!
