'HSE Has Become an Integral Part of My Life'
Zhang Bin is from China and earned his bachelor's in Russian Language from Xi'an Petroleum University. In 2017 Bin enrolled in the Master's Programme 'Project Management: Project Analysis, Investments, and Implementation Technologies' at HSE Perm. Today Bin is very proud to be a graduate of the Higher School of Economics.
Certainly, studying for 2 years at HSE Perm has been useful. I not only got valuable knowledge in the classroom, but outside as well: I got acquainted with other cultures, met kind people from other countries, and learned from remarkable teachers who became dear to me. In general, I enjoyed student life here. I can say that now that I have received my diploma, I have fulfilled my dream: I have learned how to put my knowledge of Russian language to use and immersed myself in Russian culture.
It is impossible to express my feelings using one phrase, but one thing is obvious - HSE has become an integral part of my life!
My main goal after admission was to defend my Master's thesis successfully, and that is why for two years I prioritized class time and coursework. During my time here, additional materials and active work in groups in classes really helped me. I am very glad I had the chance to continue my studies at HSE Perm. Two years is not very long, but it is enough time to become a professional in a new field. It was worth it. I once told myself, 'Never give up', and that is why I became a graduate of the Higher School of Economics!
I had plans for the next few years after graduating HSE, but, in fact, not all of them have materialized. Firstly, I planned to stay in Russia in order to start a career and put my acquired knowledge and skills into practice. Secondly, in addition to professional goals, I set myself some personal goals. In the meantime, I have been focusing on work. After graduation, I went home to China to see my family and have a bit of rest, and during the holidays, I received an offer to conduct an interesting project. I think that my plans are on the way to being realized.
I am an assistant to the project manager of a Chinese Construction Corporation. Now we are implementing a project to build a bridge in Tbilisi, Georgia. Our company is known as CSCEC, and it won the tender for the construction of roads E60. It is my first foray into professional life. It is difficult to predict what path my career with this corporation will take - right now I'm working on gaining more experience.
Sure! I talk a lot about HSE with my friends. I can easily name a few reasons why you should enter Higher School of Economics in Perm.
First, HSE is one of the leading universities in Russia. Of course, studying is not easy, but all your efforts will be worth it down the line. Secondly, Perm has a calm atmosphere for studying. As a student from China, I found living and studying in Perm to be very comfortable. Life in this city greatly enhanced my skills: I have learned Russian, and I started to write letters and academic texts. Thanks to daily practice, I became more free and confident in communication, which allowed me to establish many wonderful contacts that I intend to maintain in the future. Thirdly, education here is available for students from different countries and with different financial opportunities: the fee for the education is suitable, education is affordable, and it is presented in a very high quality.
Through my personal example, I can attest to how much effort teachers put in to their work in order to equip us with useful skills and competencies, and to how the atmosphere of the Perm campus helps you unleash your potential. I look forward to the future. I am grateful to HSE for this unique experience!
