‘Economics, Behavior and Experiments’ at HSE Perm

An open lecture ‘Economics, Behavior and Experiments’ by Dmitri Vinogradov, Lecturer in Finance at the University of Essex, was recently held at HSE Perm. The lecture was dedicated to experimental methods in economic research.

The behavior of people and their decisions implicitly or explicitly represent the core of economic models. In order to better predict the reaction of the economy to external shocks or political decisions, one needs to understand how people will behave in a given situation. During the lecture the participants discussed an experimental approach to the study of the behavior of individuals and their decision-making.

Dmitry Vinogradov spoke about his research, in which he analyzed the decision-making process in the situations of uncertainty, coordination games, and group decisions. The Professor analyzed the main types of experiments - laboratory, field and natural – and spoke about the results of his findings.

The event was organized by the Centre for Private-Public Interactions in cooperation with the Group for Applied Markets and Enterprises Studies of the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Empirical Studies.
