Most Sectors of the Economy Seek HSE Graduates

The HSE-Perm Career Development Centre annually monitors its graduates’ employment. Survey results indicated the demand for HSE alumni on the labour market and prove that they move up the career ladder rather quickly.

Recently, the Centre published the results of its survey of graduates in economics, which was conducted a year following graduation. It shows that 95% of the graduates are employed, while the rest are currently looking for or changing jobs, or are on maternity leave.

Each year, half of the graduates continue education in a Master’s programme, and 80% of them stay at one of HSE’s campuses. The remainder study in large Russian universities or go abroad to such institutions as Glasgow Caledonian University, ESSET Business, University of Groningen, European University Cyprus, University of Essex, Centennial College, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, SKEMA Business School, and others.

Every year, HSE graduates in economics find jobs in various fields. Up to 30% of them are employed by investment companies, up to 23% - by banks and lending organizations, and up to 24% - by consulting and audit companies. The share of graduates employed in manufacturing companies is near 51%. They also find employment in IT companies, public and educational institutions, fuel and energy companies, retail, logistics, construction and engineering companies, as well as in health care and marketing.

Large Russian and international banks that employ HSE graduates include Sberbank, Raiffeisen Bank, VTB 24, and Ingosstrakh. Investment companies include ING Investment Management, Renaissance Capital, Yandex Money, Goldman Sachs, and UFS IC.

Many graduate economists work in manufacturing companies both in Perm and other Russian cities. The rapidly developing IT sphere also attracts HSE graduates. Our graduates work in such fuel and energy companies as Lukoil, Permenergosbyt, Gazpromneft, and Selena Oil.

The annual survey of graduates in economics demonstrates that HSE alumni are in demand in most sectors of the economy, take senior positions in companies, and rapidly move up the career ladder.
