A team of 4th-year Economic students from HSE Perm has won first prize in the Russian stage of an international contest in business case solutions, The Unilever Future Leaders' League. They will represent Russia in the finals of the contest, which will take place in March 2015 in London.
The annual business case solution contest Unilever Future Leaders' League is taking place for the third time and has attracted students from over 20 countries. Over 800 teams participated in the Russian stage of the contest this year. Twelve teams made it to the finals after winning regional semi-finals in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Ekaterinburg. They presented their solution of a business case before a professional jury in Moscow: they developed a special version of an existing Dove product for girls aged 11-16. All the teams demonstrated excellent presentation skills, creativity and deep analysis, but the HSE Perm team ‘My uncle John Lennon’ won the competition. The participants are 4th-year students of Economics, Vladimir Bykov, Andrey Maslennikov, and Alexander Shibanov.
‘The three days of the Russian stage and two months of hard work resulted in our victory; we got some very valuable experience and felt some incredible emotions’, Alexander Shibanov says. ‘The level of competition was very high, but we managed to keep our nerve and deliver a good presentation of our idea, which we had been working on for the previous two weeks. The task of developing a special version of an existing product turned out to be extremely difficult, but our motivation and excellent teamwork helped us get a good result. We’d like to thank everyone who helped us during these thrilling two months. We are looking forwards to the finals in London and believe that the most interesting part is still to come’.
This year HSE Perm students opened a business case solution club, Phoenix HSE Case Club, and the first HSE Case Cup took place in the beginning of December with the support of the Club and as part of the Employers’ Forum.
