Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course examines the formation and development of economic thought / theory from antiquity to the present day. The main attention is paid to the disclosure of the conceptual provisions of various theories and the formation of scientific economic schools that developed in the 20th century.

  • • Expanding the professional and general intellectual horizons of students and developing a culture of critical thinking;
  • • the formation of students' ideas about the factors and conditions for the development of economic knowledge, the patterns of evolution and change of main schools in economics, the social role of economic theory
  • • mastery of knowledge about the possibilities of interdisciplinary interaction in the field of social and humanitarian research.

  • Apply key philosophical and psychological concepts to their own lives and thought
  • - Understand public speaking, including through technical means; - extract implicit information from an oral message of a monological or dialogical nature;
  • Knows the main directions and trends in the evolution of modern economic thought, is able to recognize and critically evaluate the premises of various economic theories, their strengths and weaknesses, and the scope of applicability.
  • Knows the basic concepts formed in the framework of classical and Marxist political economy, their influence on the subsequent development of economic science and practice, understands their philosophical, ideological and ethical prerequisites, is able to recognize and critically evaluate the features and areas of application of the relevant theoretical ideas and economic and political attitudes.
  • Knows the main stages in the development of domestic economic thought, its international relationships and the contribution of its leading representatives to world economic science.
