Аннотация

The discipline "History of Arts and Literature" is aimed at getting the students acquainted with the history of the development of art and literature, the main problems, directions and methods of studying the history of art and literature; mastering their skills and competencies associated with the search and use of information on the history of art and literature; acquiring the skills and competencies that are related to the perception of works of art and contribute to the formation of the creative ability necessary for the historian and also at working with historically developed complexes of information resources (archives, museums, libraries, state and commercial institutions and enterprises, Internet resources, etc.)

  • Medieval and Renaissance Literature
    Topic 1. Medieval and Renaissance worldview and culture. Middle Ages: a two-level concept of the world. Oppositions and analogies of two levels; allegory, sign and symbol. The principle of hierarchy in different areas of life: physical space, society, religion, culture, literature. Renaissance: anthropocentric concept of the world. Humanism and optimism. The principles of truth, harmony and freedom: changes in the fields of science, art, religion and society. Topic 2. European national epic. The novel of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. English, French, Spanish and German national epics: general and specific. Beowulf, The Song of Roland, The Song of My Cid, The Song of the Nibelungs. The genre of a medieval chivalrous novel: Chretien de Troyes "Yvain, or Knight with the Lion." Pre-Renaissance in Italy and England: Dante's Divine Comedy, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Stages of the development of the Renaissance novel: Boccaccio, Rabelais, Cervantes. "Tristan and Isolde." The reflection of medieval representations and the implementation of the genre signs of a chivalrous novel in this work. Images of heroes, plot and plot, composition. Themes and ideas. Topic 3. The value of columns in architecture. Religious architecture, a feature of space and composition. Architectural styles. Romanesque and Gothic styles. Specificity, vivid examples of architecture. Russian architecture - vivid examples of masterpieces of architecture. Topic 7. Styles of art - a synthesis of architecture, painting, sculpture. Renaissance. Baroque. Classicism, Rococo, Empire. The role of classicism in the culture of Europe and Russia. The main features of these styles. An integrated approach to composition. Topic 8. Analysis of a work of art - paintings or sculptures. The basic concepts of the analysis of a painting. Light and shadow. Color, colorfulness, volume and plane. Attitude to color and shape. Definition of style. The external description of the picture, the history of creation, composition, the use of color and light.
