IDLab Researchers Welcome New Interns!

IDLab Researchers Welcome New Interns!

IDLab recruits the most motivated, academically inclined students and conducts research, every year. But this year was special for us! For the first time, we recruited students from three HSE campuses - Perm, St. Petersburg and Moscow. And we hope that with the means of remote work, they will join our research projects regardless of location.
As a result of the contest, this year eleven students were selected to work with the laboratory. On April 6, the first official meeting of interns with the full staff of IDLab took place.
Students shared their expectations of working with the Lab and talked about skills and interests. All students have excellent English and impressive presentation skills. In addition, all interns indicated proficiency in data manipulation using one or more programming languages or statistical packages (R, Python, SQL, SPSS, and Excel). They also just talked about themselves which is crucial for successful teamwork.
In turn, the head of the laboratory, Elena Shakina, spoke about how the laboratory is organised, how many people are involved, current research lines and a possible academic career. The core value of the laboratory is close friendly communication and informal interaction, and we hope that new interns will take advantage of the numerous opportunities of working in the international laboratory of the HSE University, discussions with international experts and participants in real research projects.
