'HSE Is a Leading University'
Students of the double degree master’s programme ‘Business Strategies in a Global Environment’ share their impressions of studying at the University of Essex. Ekaterina Mozhgorova spoke about her studies at the Southend Campus.
'I had absolutely no doubt that I chose the right programme of study, though I felt a little anxious when I applied for the University of Essex and decided to get a student visa. The whole process was rather complex and long; you should start preparing for it as soon as you enrol on HSE's master’s programme. First of all I received my IELTS certificate and chose several courses in English, then I applied to study in Essex and for my student visa. I will never forget the moment I got my passport with a visa in it. That was the moment when I finally thought: ‘I’m going to Great Britain.’
When I started studying at the University of Essex, I realized the value of education at HSE Perm, as it is a leading university that meets the requirements of education in the UK. For example, students from HSE know how to write essays and do research projects, unlike many other students who had never done it before coming to Essex.
We only had few lectures as most of the time was given over to self-study. It really helped a lot, as I could plan my time and go to London for the weekend. The capital is an hour away from Southend by train. I speak English quite fluently, though at first I had some trouble understanding native speakers because of their accent.
I really enjoyed communicating with other international students, particularly since I didn’t necessarily expect to find any real friends among them. Now, however, I know that if I go to China, Greece, Mexico, Vietnam or Chile, I can look up my classmates.'
