International Conference on Applied Research in Economics 2015

The Higher School of Economics-Perm holds the third International Conference on Applied Research in Economics (iCare) on September 21-23.

The researchers from 12 countries representing 21 organisations – universities, research centres, banks, and consulting companies - will gather at HSE to discuss how modern economic methods and models can be applied to resolving society and business problems. The topics include corporate finance and banking, public-private interactions, industrial economics, political economy, education economics, sport economics, and experimental economics.

Keynote speakers:

  • Jörg Oechssler,  Full Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Heidelberg, Germany.
  • Michael Lamla, Professor and PhD Programme Director (Finance) at Essex Business School (University of Essex, UK).
  • Elisabetta Iossa, Full Professor of Economics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Research Fellow at the CEPR (London) and CMPO (Bristol).

During the conference special events organized by HSE research groups will be held:

The International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy will organize two sections dedicated to economics of football and intellectual capital. On September 23 the round table ‘Key Resources of a Company in New Economy’ (in Russian) will be held. The participants will discuss the role of intellectual resources in raising competitiveness of a modern company, and the problems of asymmetric information in investing in this kind of resources.

The International Centre for Public-private Interaction will organise the round table ‘PPP projects: international and Russian experience’. The event will take place on September 23 at the Chamber of Commerce. The participants will analyze foreign experience of interaction between government and business in Russian context. During the workshop ‘Public-Private Partnerships: Design and Deliberation’ twelve reports dedicated to research of public-private interaction in various countries will be delivered.

The Group for Applied Markets and Enterprises Studies will present the results of their research project during the section on experimental and behavioral economics. The group will also conduct a seminar on ‘A Friendly Turn: Advertising Bias  in the News Media’ (speaker: Stefan Ruenzi, Professor at the University of Mannheim).
