Number of Foreign Professors at HSE Perm Increases
In the new academic year, Aron Spencer (PhD in Management) and Sara Busse Spencer (PhD in Sociology) will teach several courses for Management undergraduates and for students taking the Masters in Marketing. The university has signed international academic contracts with them.
Aron Spencer is a renowned expert and mentor in entrepreneurship and innovation management. He has a PhD in Management. A professor associated with a huge number of technology projects in the USA, Korea and Russia, Aron is on the board of directors of several large companies like the Californian ThermaQuatic Inc. which offers a thermoelectric heating and cooling device for use in healthcare.
He has taught courses in entrepreneurship and management innovation in universities in the USA and Russia and received many prizes for his research and teaching in entrepreneurship. He helped to create the Innovation Acceleration Centre at the Institute of Technology in New Jersey.
In 2014/2015 Professor Aron taught a unique intensive course in Marketing Innovation for undergraduates studying Entrepreneurship and Innovation on the degree course in Management at HSE Perm. ‘The course was a success - we got a huge amount of positive feedback from the students. And that led us to offer Aron a job. He knows about things like licensing, getting into new markets and overcoming trade barriers when entering foreign markets. He has a lot of experience of working and teaching in Russia so he understands the specifics of our market and ways of doing business,’ explained Irina Shafranskaya, Director of the Department of Management and Academic Supervisor of the Masters in Marketing.
Aron Spencer will run courses in Innovation Management and Strategic Analysis and Business Modelling for Management undergraduates. He’ll teach a course on Strategic Management Innovation to students on the Masters in Marketing programme. This course is elective so other Masters students can sign up for it.
There are also plans for Professor Spencer to supervise work at the HSE Perm Business Incubator.
Sarah Busse Spencer has a PhD from Chicago University, heir to the the world famous Chicago School of Sociology.
Sarah taught at the HSE Faculty of Social Sciences and has come with seminars to Perm several times. She is a specialist on qualitative research methods, an interesting area which undeveloped in Russia at the moment.
Sarah Busse will teach a course on Qualitative Methods in Marketing Research to students on the Masters in Marketing programme and a course on the Theory of Organisations to Management undergraduates.
Sarah Busse has signed a research contract with the university which will involve teaching and research. She will join in research work at Perm, particularly in the Sector of research into state-private interaction, and lead a number of seminars for teachers at HSE Perm.
Sarah Busse and Aron Spencer are expected to arrive in Perm in a month’s time.
