Student from HSE Perm takes home silver at world dance competition

Anastasia Kulbeda, a second-year student in HSE’s Faculty of Management, paired with Dmitry Pleshkov at the 2014 World Dance Sport Championship to take home the silver medal in the freestyle division.

Anastasia Kulbeda, a second-year student in HSE’s Faculty of Management, paired with Dmitry Pleshkov at the 2014 World DanceSport Championship to take home the silver medal in the freestyle division. Freestyle is a 3-4 minute dance number performed by a pair of dancers. The dance has a certain idea behind it and consists of several types of dances. The championship took place in Chengdu, China.

The Perm natives represented Russia at the competition, battling for their title with 13 other dance pairs from Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Moldova, Germany, Canada, Italy and other countries around the world.

Anastasia and Dmitry won the Russian national championships in April of this year. They have danced for a combined 12 years and do dancesport at Perm’s Duet dancesport club

Anastasia and Dmitry performed a number called ‘All Life Is Theatre.’ The two were dressed as actors from the 1920-1930s.
