Research

Department of Foreign Languages aims to enhance the research and publication performance of academic and teaching staff. The department’s faculty members provide scholarly support for educational and methodological initiatives and foster international research collaboration at HSE University in Perm.

The members of the department take part in major international conferences and seminars on language education and philological research, actively participate in interdisciplinary research grants and projects, serve on dissertation councils and editorial boards of academic journals, and act as reviewers for doctoral, candidate, and master’s theses.

Research at the department is carried out across a broad range of fields: philology, linguistics, and the humanities. These include cognitive, functional, and comparative linguistics; methods of foreign language teaching; educational psychology; intercultural communication; cultural studies; translation studies; and the history and theory of literature.
