Welcome Day - the First Forum for International Students

On November 16, the first 'Welcome Day' forum for foreign students was held in Perm. The forum brought together foreign students from all the universities of the city and HSE Perm's Club of Foreign Students also took part in the event.

Ethics experts began the forum and gave recommendations on how to adapt to life in our country to the students, who recently came to Perm. The experts described important features of Russian culture, gave tips on how to build international communication and how to behave in public places.

After that, the Ombudsman of the Perm region Pavel Mikov told what to do and who to contact in unforeseen situations, and emphasized that anyone can count on help if needed. The representatives of law-enforcement authorities and the migration service specified the most common cases from the lives of foreigners in Russia. Also the students asked the speakers questions of their concern.

Besides, the students were able to learn more about the history of Perm region within the discussion with the famous journalist Vladimir Gladyshev. He told remarkable facts of the region formation and showed a slideshow with unique historical photographs of the city. The forum culminated in a concert on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance.

This is a new type of event for the city, and I was glad to be here with HSE Perm's Foreign Student Club. All the participants were very attentive during the experts' speeches, and it's pleasant to see how the students support each other away from home. All the students have serious intentions to manage their future career and life in general.

After the forum we all have positive impressions. For me personally, it was very useful to hear the experience of other foreign students on migration registration.
