Influence of subscribers’ geographic mobility on selection of mobile communication tariff

The project is implemented together with operator of national and international long-distance communication “Rostelecom”.

Project participants:

- Aleksei Chadov (project manager)

- Anna Vozmishcheva (1st year MA student of Applied Economics programme (HSE))

Abstract:

Within the framework of the project the influence of subscriber’s geographic mobility on his/her consumer behavior is studied. Approaches are being developed which allow to determine the degree of subscriber’s geographic mobility based on the data on places of making calls. The researchers intend to build a discrete choice model of a tariff plan depending on characteristics of subscriber’s consumption and his/her geographic mobility.

Research hypotheses:

      1)     Subscribers with different geographic mobility prefer different tariff plans

      2)     Subscribers of the same tariff plan have the features of behavior, some of which are explained by their geographic mobility.

 3) The subscriber’s mobility influences his/her consumer behavior and is distributed via the network of his/her contacts.
