Pre-Departure Checklist

STEPS TO TAKE BEFORE LEAVING YOUR COUNTRY:
  • After the visa invitation appears in your personal account, you may apply for a student visa at a Russian consulate or visa centre in your home country (single-entry visa, 90-day duration);

* applicable only to nationals of the countries which require a visa to enter Russia;

  • Check if there are any mistakes on the visa and if all the information is correct;
  • Sign up for a health insurance plan valid in Russia or decide on the medical insurance company to buy medical insurance from when in Russia;
  • Inform the International Office about whether or not you need dormitory accommodation at admissionsperm@hse.ru;
  • Get a health certificate signed and stamped by your physician and a vaccination certificate issued by a medical organization in a free format (required for a dormitory check-in);
  • Get acquainted with the Internal Dormitory Regulations and Dormitory Tenancy Agreement;
  • Plan to arrive in Perm in time for the orientation session and the start of semester;
  • Check that the date of your arrival does not precede the start date of your visa;
  • Check Russian customs regulations and your airline’s luggage regulations;
  • Check with your bank the maximum cash amount you can withdraw in Russia;
  • Check how to get to the HSE University’s Dormitory or the location of your accommodation from the airport/terminal station;
  • Check the location of your faculty and other HSE University, Perm buildings;
  • Save the contacts of your Programme Office and your programme manager, International Office and Students and Alumni Centre;  
  • Save the contacts of your Embassy/Consulate in Russia.

 

WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU:  
  • Original high school/degree certificate/diploma (with the transcript) + its copy + a notarized translation of your high school/degree certificate/diploma into Russian (if applicable);
  • Your passport with visa;
  • A health insurance policy, the original of your health certificate signed and stamped by your physician, a vaccination certificate, negative HIV test results, fluorography results;
  • Your voluntary health insurance policy (if available);
  • 4 passport-size (3х4см) colour photos on a matte paper;
  • Photocopies to have in your carry-on luggage: passport ID page, passport visa page;  
  • Cash to use during your first few days in Russia;
  • Warm clothes and boots.
