Minor Selection Campaign Starts on March 13

Minor Selection Campaign Starts on March 13

© HSE University

Starting from next academic year, all students having completed a minor will receive a MicroDegree certificate from HSE University in addition to their core degree.

MicroDegrees are microqualifications confirming that a graduate has acquired skills in a highly specialised field.

'This certificate reflects related competences of a HSE graduate, making him or her an even more valuable specialist in the employment market. Therefore, we recommend that you decide early on the minor to study and complete it in full to obtain a MicroDegree,' comments Natalia Chichik, head of the Educational Trajectory Centre.

The selection campaign will take place in two rounds, preceded by a preview.

  • Step  1:  Preview

    10:50 March 11 — 18:00 March 12 (Moscow time)

In the preview mode, you can look through the catalogue of minors available for you and their specifications, check the subjects you will study and the micro-qualification you will obtain.

  • Step  2:  First Selection Round

    10:50 March 13 — 18:00 March 15 (Moscow time)

You should select five preferred minors and indicate their priority. Before the end of this selection round, you can change your selected minors and their priority order.

  • Step  3:  Second Selection Round

    10:50 March 21 — 18:00 March 23 (Moscow time)

If not assigned to your chosen minor during the first round, you will be able to choose once again from the remaining available minors.

In choosing a minor, you will be assisted by the SmartWay system, a tool for self-selection of courses, which is capable of selecting disciplines considering a student's individual characteristics. Instructions for the SmartWay system are available here. Click the 'Contact technical support' button after opening the module to ask any technical questions.

Feedback from students based on their comments in Student Evaluation of Teaching for 2023 is available on the pages of all minors already being taught. Click on the 'Student Reviews' tab to learn about the strengths of each minor. You will find summaries of the minor's key features generated by YandexGPT with examples of feedback from students.
