HSE University’s Standing in the 2019 Global Rankings
Today’s publication of four international subject area rankings in the life sciences, physical sciences, psychology, and medical and health sciences by the Times Higher Education (THE) marks the end of this year’s rankings cycle, which includes the four major world rankings—THE, QS, ARWU, and U.S. News & World Report.
This year, HSE University has increased its presence in the global rankings to 38 subject areas. This expansion confirms HSE University’s stature as a premier multidisciplinary university that stands alongside Russia’s oldest and most prestigious universities, such as Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University. In 19 subject areas, HSE University not only stands alongside its older Russian peers but steps forward as the nationwide leader. In 9 subject area rankings, HSE is the only ranked Russian university, thereby demonstrating itself to be a top representative of the Russia's higher education system on the global stage.
In the THE subject area rankings in the life sciences, physical sciences, psychology, and medical and health sciences published on November 19, Russia is represented by 35 universities, 19 of which are participants of the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100.
In Physics, HSE has again placed in the 401-500 range, while in Psychology, HSE shares the leading position in Russia with MSU, placing in the 151-175 range.
