Associate Professor of HSE-Perm’s Department of IT in Business Participated in International Exhibition WETEX 2018
Between October 23rd and 25th, 2018, the 20th WETEX 2018 exhibition took place in Dubai, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. This event was attended by Aleksey Kychkin, Associate Professor of HSE-Perm’s Department of IT in Business, and head of the Cyber Physical Systems research group.
WETEX 2018 is one of the leading global exhibitions on water supply, energy, technology and environmental protection, and has been held annually since 1999 with financial support from the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the city of Dubai.
This year about 2000 organizations took part in the exhibition, which was focused on creating technologies for “smart” cities and Industry 4.0, including systems for modeling and controlling buildings, and systems for controlling the energy infrastructure and transport.
The exhibition saw Professor Kychkin meet with representatives of such organizations as Iffen — French Training Institute of Energy (France), TUV and Siemens (Germany), INSIGHT ESCO (Canada), Annicom (Great Britain); EmiratesSolarSun, PowerNSun, SEE, Al-mostajed (a company working on the development of “smart” power lines), Global Energy Technologies (the UAE) and others.
Prof. Kychkin also held meetings with representatives from Dubai University – the largest private higher educational establishment in the UAE. The university includes several colleges, including the college of business administration and the college of information technologies. The educational programmes of these colleges are being developed in accordance with the policy of the Government of the UAE on the development of economics, creating a “smart” city, and a programme of innovation and development for e-business.
This experience of communicating with specialists, along with the information and reference materials presented at the exhibition, will all be used in research and education at HSE-Perm when implementing projects on cyber physical systems and the technologies of a “smart” city.
