
‘Policymakers Should Prioritise Investing in AI for Climate Adaptation’
Michael Appiah, from Ghana, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Laboratory of Intangible-Driven Economy (IDLab) at HSE University–Perm. He recently spoke at the seminar ‘Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, and Climate Vulnerability: Evidence from Heterogeneous Panel Models’ about his research on ‘the interplay between artificial intelligence, digitalisation, and climate vulnerability.’ Michael told the HSE News Service about the academic journey that led him to HSE University, his early impressions of Perm, and how AI can be utilised to combat climate change.

2025 Scientific Collaboration Outcomes: HSE University in Perm and Iran University of Science and Technology
The first year of the project "Internationalization of Companies from Developing Countries: The Role of Intellectual Resources in Response to Exogenous Shocks", implemented in 2025–2027 under the HSE University Joint Basic Research Projects ‘International Academic Cooperation’ competition, has been successfully concluded. The project is carried out by the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy at HSE University in collaboration with Iran University of Science and Technology, under the supervision of Maria Molodchik and Amir Zakeri. All planned commitments for the first year have been fully fulfilled.

Russian researchers presented their work at the International Conference of the Eurasian Business and Economics Society in Istanbul
The 52nd International Scientific Conference of the Eurasia Business and Economics Society EBES (Eurasia Business and Economics Society) was held in Istanbul from July 3 to 5, 2025, bringing together scholars from dozens of countries who presented about 200 papers. The participants presented their research in corporate finance, labor economics, innovation, marketing, corporate strategies and risk management.

HSE University in Perm hosted a seminar on the RSF project "Comparative Analysis of AI and Real Individuals in Economic Decisions."
On June 24, 2025 at the HSE University in Perm began a summer series of workshops under RNF Grant 25-18-00539: “Comparative Analysis of Behavior of Artificial Intelligence-Based Agents and Real Individuals in Economic Decision-Making” led by Petr Parshakov.

Math and Cybersport: IDLab Researchers at the MathSport International 2025 Conference
From June 4 to 6, 2025, the MathSport International 2025 conference took place at the University of Luxembourg. Researchers from around the globe gathered to discuss the application of mathematical methods to the analysis of sports, ranging from soccer to cyber sports. More than 100 papers were presented in total, including two studies by young IDLab specialists.

Artificial Intelligence and Financial Risk Management: IDLab Seminar
On May 16, 2025, the International Laboratory for the Economics of Intangible Assets (IDLab) hosted another session of its regular academic seminar series, featuring guest speaker Dr. Michael Appiah, Associate Professor at the School of Management and the Department of Finance and Economics at Jiangsu University (China), and Director of Dorstell Research & Consultancy. In his presentation, Dr. Appiah shared the findings of his research on financial risk management in OECD countries, focusing on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, technological infrastructure, and regulatory quality.

IDLab researchers of the Higher School of Economics - Maria Molodchik, Anna Davii, Egor Ivanov, Nikita Matkin, Mikhail Usanin and Alexey Smirnov took part in the XXV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference. The anniversary conference was held at the Moscow campus of the Higher School of Economics on April 15-18, 2025 as part of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia program.
