iCare in Essex

On September 26-27, 2016, the International Conference on Applied Research in Economics (iCare) is being held at HSE’s partner university — the Essex Business School (University of Essex, Colchester).

For two days the participants at four parallel sessions will discuss issues of labour economics, banking and financial markets, corporate governance, the public sector, and other related topics. Over 25 scholars from around the world will present their research findings.

Michael Ehrmann, Chief of Economic and Financial Research, Bank of Canada, and a keynote speaker at the iCare, will deliver a lecture on monetary policy after the crisis. Mr. Ehrmann’s primary research interests include international finance, central bank communication and monetary policy transmission.

Michael Keane, Nuffield Professor of Economics at the University of Oxford, another conference keynote speaker, will present a report on the effects of taxation on labour supply and human capital. Professor Keane works in numerous areas including labor economics, econometrics, consumer demand models, marketing, industrial organization, health economics, and trade.

In addition, Professor Carol Osler, Brandeis University International Business School, was invited to present his paper describing a model of trading at the London 4 pm “fix,” a major foreign exchange market benchmark.

The best conference papers will be suggested for publication in the British Journal of Management.
