About the Library
The Library at the HSE Perm campus started forming its collections in 1998, with international classics of economics serving as its foundation. Today the library's holdings number roughly 70,000 items, including about 6,000 copies of foreign publications and 140 periodical titles. The Library's collection of e-papers, which includes full-text versions, is constantly growing. The library serves approximately 2,500 readers annually.
Since 2000, the library has maintained an electronic catalogue in the automated library information system LiberMedia. The catalogue, which can be accessed via the internet, includes the library's entire holdings: books, periodicals and articles from them, and electronic and audiovisual media. E-Resources in Our Subscription
One of the problems of higher education in Russia is its isolation from the global educational process which is caused by a lack of both foreign language abilities and academic resources.
From the day of its founding, The Higher School of Economics has sought to provide its students and staff with access to the best educational and research publications of world economics. Work in this field is not limited to acquiring foreign literature for the Library and subscriptions to international academic journals. Special attention is being paid to new and promising electronic acquisitions.
The library subscribes to a number of paid internet sites offering e-resources for research and education that are of high quality and recognized by the academic community. For example, the HSE’s e-subscription includes websites of leading academic publishers such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Springer, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier, in which full-text versions of some journals and books are published.
The HSE makes available over 40 information resources in both Russian and English. These include journal collections (thousands of international and Russian publications) and books, encyclopedias and dictionaries, statistical and business databases, collections of theses, and other types of materials. Since the HSE subscription is available at all campuses, students and staff of the HSE’s campus in Perm have access to the ‘cream of the crop’ of global academic thought, allowing them to study, teach, and conduct research in accordance with international standards.
